The current Board of Directors has extended the self-nomination period for the 2026-2027 season. As many of our current board members are parents of graduating seniors, we have several upcoming vacancies. We rely on parent volunteers to maintain our status as a 501(c)(3) organization and ensure the club's continued success.
Serving on the board is a meaningful way to shape our rowers' experiences and fulfills the team's volunteer requirements. We are seeking self-nominations for all positions. If you are interested, please complete the Nomination Form by 11:59 PM ET on Sunday, April 5, 2026. Elections will be held later in April.
For more details regarding specific roles, please review the Board of Directors Description of Duties.
In addition to position-specific responsibilities, all board members must:
— Complete a mandatory City of Tampa background check (approx. $38) immediately following the election.
— Complete a free 90-minute SafeSport Certification by June 30, 2026.
— Enroll in a USRowing Supporter Membership ($10) by July 1, 2026.
— Attend monthly board meetings, typically held on the first Tuesday of each month.
— Remain in continuous good standing with HHSRC.

As we prepare for the upcoming 2026 FSRA State Sculling Championship at Nathan Benderson Park on April 11–12, 2026, I want to share essential details regarding regatta rules, rower limitations, and the new 10-lane progression format.
To ensure a fair and safe competition, the FSRA enforces strict participation rules:
● Single Event Limit: Each rower is restricted to competing in only one event for the entire regatta; doubling of athletes is not permitted. While each rower is limited to one event, they will race a minimum of two times ( determined by the number of entries in the event and the newly established 10-progression format)
● Classification Requirements: * Junior Events: Limited to competitors in the 11th grade or lower.
○ Freshman Events: Limited to competitors in the 9th grade or lower.
○ Lightweight Events: Male rowers must not exceed 150 lbs, and female rowers must not exceed 130 lbs. There is no weight averaging, and all athletes in a boat must weigh in together during the official window on Saturday morning (7:00 AM–9:00 AM).
For the 2026 season, both sculling and sweep events have transitioned to a 10-lane format. Notably, repechages have been eliminated to align with this new progression.
● Heats and Time Trials: Events begin with either heats or time trials on Saturday to determine seeding.
● Semifinals: These will be used as needed based on the number of entries to narrow the field for the finals.
● Finals: * Grand “A” Finals: The primary championship races where 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals are awarded.
○ Petite Finals: Crews that do not qualify for the Grand Final may progress to a Petite Final (such as "B" or "C" finals) to determine their final overall ranking.
To understand how an athlete moves through the rounds, here is an example for an event with 20 entries:
Heats: The 20 entries are divided into two heats (10 boats each).
Finals: The top 5 boats from each heat (10 boats total) advance to the Grand "A" Final.
To Petite Finals: * The boats finishing 6th through 10th in each heat (10 boats total) move to the Petite "B" Final to compete for 11th through 20th place overall.
○ If enough entries were present to warrant a "C" Final, those further down the rankings would populate that race to ensure every team gets a full competitive experience.
Please note that the event times in the calendar below may be displayed inaccurately due to the Google Calendar's time zone and daylight saving time settings. You can see the accurate times by logging into a Google account and setting your time zone to Eastern Time.
